Sadly, they ran out of chili for their amazing bacon-wrapped dogs right before we got there. I almost went with something else, and, n retrospect, I wish I had. The hot dog was just boring, even though I put my Mac & cheese on top. To be fair, I cannot blame them for running out of chili. BBQ places run out of things in Texas. It's a social convention. While I can absolutely enjoy a good dog, and this is a very good dog, without chili, it is rare I make such a choice. The brisket nachos were very good, as usual, though to be fair, we've only visited their now-closed, downtown location. In short, Angie's is consistently excellent, but when you have your heart set on one thing...that ONE THING...well, we all know how that feels.

We were on the tour bus and saw this place and decided to try it later. You could get off the tour bus at the Japanese Tea Garden and walk 2 minutes to the Smokehouse. Brisket was really good. Very casual. Reasonably decent parking situation. Good service. I'd eat here again for sure.

Everyone tells me to come here since moving to TX, and I finally made the time. I was not mentally prepared for the Fred Flintstone sized ribs.. we don't have those in the north. So I didn't know they existed until I came here. When I ordered the 2 rib and brisket platter, I had expected small ribs and a tiny amount of brisket. Nope! This was a meal for 2-3 people! The ribs alone filled me up! And there was still enough brisket for an entire meal! Sides were great too. All the food was delicious. Best meal for your money. Staff was nice and there was plenty of indoor and outdoor dining.

Ordered a pound of brisket and one beef rib. Prices were pretty reasonable. Service was very quick and our food brought out in no time at all. The brisket was very good. I really enjoyed it. However, the rib was extremely tough so tough I couldn't even bite I it off the bone. I had to pull out my pocket knife and cut chunks from the bone to eat. Had a good flavor, but was extremely tough. That part was disappointing. Inside the typical barbecue place ambience. I would probably eat here again, but would get something other than the beef ribs.

Visited the restaurant after walking around the Japanese Tea Garden on a hot Sunday afternoon. We were immediately greeted by the staff and smacked with a delicious bbq smell. The sides were on display behind their hot car, and the menu had everything you expect from a down home bbq establishment. Due to the dietary restrictions of my party, we only got the chicken (both white and dark) and fries. Our meal came out so quick. And let me say... both chicken meats and the fries were amazing!!! The chicken was so moist and flavorful. The best bbq chicken I've ever had. & the fries... hands down the best French fries I've ever had. They were fried and seasoned perfectly. Their bbq sauce was delicious as well. Very reminiscent of the Kansas City bbq I'm used to. I opted for the tortilla as the side carb and that was also delicious. Very fresh. I highly recommend Augie's. They had a spacious indoor and outdoor eating space that could accommodate any party size.

Just down the street from the zoo. The place is small but has a nice Texas ambiance. First thing you smell is the good bbqs that are getting smoked. Price is decent. I got the two meats for 12.99, brisket and sausages w two sides. Everyone of the workers are nice. I thought my portion of food was too little but it wasn't. Filled me up completely. Will be back.
